Welcome to the Division of Polymers and Colloids of the Swiss Chemical Society
The Division builds on synergies between Chemistry and Material Sciences, providing a network between scientists and technologists in all areas where polymers and colloids are synthesized, manufactured, investigated, transformed or applied:
- Polymer chemistry & physics
- Functional polymers
- Formulation and product design
- Construction polymers, adhesives and coatings
- Colloids and soft condensed matter
- Nanoscience
- Surface science
- Polymers in life science
The Call for nominations of the DPC Best PhD Thesis Award 2012 is now open
The DPC best thesis award is distributed annually to a talented young scientist from a Swiss University. The selection will be based on a single publication drawn from the student's PhD thesis (completed or under preparation) which has been published, or accepted for publication, during the last three years.
The award is distributed at the annual PolyColl conference of the Division and the winner will be invited to present his/her work during the conference.
Please send your nominations by e-mail to the president of the Division: Dr. Bettina Steinmann, steinmannb@3dsystems.com, until December 15, 2011.
Our goals are
- to promote research and teaching of macromolecular science and colloids;
- to bring together those interested in macromolecular science and polymer technologies;
- to inform about the latest results and trends and provide a discussion forum;
- to promote the interaction between the different disciplines of macromolecular science as
well as between basic research and application and between academia and industry; - to establish and maintain contacts with Swiss and international societies and organizations
that are active in the field of polymer science and have similar goals.
Our activities include:
- The organization of an annual Spring Meeting about Polymer and Colloid Science;
- Organization of meetings and workshops about areas of current interest;
- Contribution to the yearly Fall Meeting of the SCS.
To join PCD, you must be member of the Swiss Chemical Society http://www.scg.ch.
There is no additional fee for the PCD membership.
